Meeting set to discuss Big Dam Bridge construction projects

A public meeting is set for Thursday to discuss ideas and funding for improvement projects at the Big Dam Bridge in Little Rock, city officials said Wednesday.

A Little Rock news release states the city, in partnership with the Big Dam Bridge Foundation and members of the community, is seeking a grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism to fund at least one possible project under consideration — the addition of restrooms near the Murray Lock and Dam.

Mark Webre, deputy director of operations for the Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department, said the meeting would also provide the opportunity for people to share their creative ideas for the use of the grant money if it's approved.

According to its website, the Big Dam Bridge Foundation is attempting to raise $50,000 by Aug. 15 for the requisite match money. Over one million people visited the Big Dam Bridge in 2013.

More information about the project is available at bigdambridge.org/pitstop.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Willie L. Hinton Center at 3805 W. 12th St.
