The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reminding campers and boaters over the July 4th holiday to leave the fireworks at home.

The agency said in a statement Thursday that “possession of loaded firearms, ammunition or other weapons are prohibited at Corps campsites and day use facilities. Explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks or other pyrotechnics are also prohibited.”

Rangers will be on the lookout to enforce campsite rules and regulations, as well as boating laws.

Park rangers are urging boaters to wear life jackets at all times, though it’s not required by law, the news release states.

The Corps has life jacket-loaner stations set up at parks on: Beaver, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Norfork, Clearwater, Greers Ferry, Nimrod, Blue Mountain, Dardanelle, Millwood, Dierks, DeQueen, Greeson, Degray, Ouachita, and Gillham lakes.

"Several Corps parks along the Arkansas River plus the Arkansas Game and Fish boat launch ramp near Verizon Arena also have loaner stations,” officials said.
