Head-on wreck kills Morrilton man

A Morrilton man was killed and two others were injured Thursday in a wreck in the Conway County community of Hill Creek, authorities said.

Oscar Winter Jr., 70, was driving a Chrysler Town & Country minivan south on Arkansas 92 about 1 p.m. when a northbound Ford F250 crossed the centerline and hit the van head-on, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police accident report.

Winter was pronounced dead at the scene by Conway County Coroner Richard Neal. The pickup’s occupants were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, authorities said.

The weather was rainy and the roads wet at the time of the accident, the report states.

Winter’s marks the 199th to occur in wrecks on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
