Skeletal remains found near abandoned Camden home

CAMDEN — Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains were discovered near an abandoned home in Camden.

Camden Police Chief Bo Woody said the bones were found Wednesday night. Authorities determined that the remains were human, and they've been sent to the state Crime Laboratory for identification and a cause of death.

Woody told the Camden News that investigators don't yet know whether foul play is involved in the death. The police chief said the house had been vacant for years and that the remains were found in a wooded area nearby.

Woody said clothing items were also discovered at the scene but had deteriorated.
