UA hires alumna to fundraising job

Betsy Lavender has been hired to fill a newly created fundraising position at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville working with donors to support construction and other projects related to fraternities and sororities.

Lavender, who earns $90,000 yearly, started June 10.

Lavender is a UA alumna who studied journalism. She worked 14 years with Alltel Communications in Little Rock. Lavender also helped with the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, assisting with press relations, among other political work. She has been honored as Little Rock Chi Omega Alumna of the Year.

According to a university official, UA has 33 fraternities and sororities that involve about 5,300 students. UA's total enrollment is about 25,300 students.
