CONWAY -- The start of Friday's Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star football game was delayed when lightning was spotted just before kickoff at Central Arkansas' Estes Stadium.

Then, the East interrupted what looked like a West runaway.

It was close to 11 p.m. when the West finally left the field with a 23-14 victory in its hands, thanks to a defense that held the East to 190 offensive yards and forced two turnovers.

The East twice moved the ball into West territory with the West clinging to a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter. A fumble recovery by Kendrix McCann of Texarkana at the West 39 thwarted one drive, then the West's defensive line stuffed Salem's Dillion Turner on fourth-and-1 from inside the 5 with just over a minute remaining.
