Gay Pride parades set to step off

By The Associated Press

This article was published June 29, 2014 at 9:29 a.m.

NEW YORK — Gay Pride parades are set to step off around the world, in cities large and small.

In the U.S., celebrations are planned Sunday from coast to coast: in New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, as well as many smaller cities. Festivals were held Saturday in France, Spain, Mexico and Peru.

New York marchers will commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riots, which are credited with launching the modern gay rights movement in 1969. San Francisco's event is in its 44th year.

The U.S. festivities come amid an eventful year since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the statute that denied federal recognition to same-sex marriages and cleared the way for gay couples to wed legally in California. Since then, seven more states legalized same-sex marriage, boosting the total to 19, plus Washington, D.C.

If you are allowed to marry the person you love and access the 1138 federal rights, benefits, and privileges dependent upon "marriage" along with the average of 300 rights, benefits, and privileges per state dependent upon "marriage", you probably don't need a Heterosexual parade because you aren't a marginalized minority being denied equal protection and due process. You're just a self-pitying victim of PLUM disease (Poor Little Unfortunate Me) desperately trying to cut yourself a big slice of victimhood pie.....and that really isn't worthy of a parade.

I think the point of gay pride parades is for gays to come out in public, find supporting souls, and show society that they no longer will live in the shadows and pretend they're not what they are. If you think heterosexuals have faced the same persecution and need a public show of support, then hold your parade, 1955.
