Dustin Watson, 19, of Searcy was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the death of his infant daughter.

A 19-year-old Searcy man was charged Monday in the death of his infant daughter, police said.

The Searcy Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to a child abuse report on June 19 at the White County Medical Center, where a 4- to 5-month-old girl, Za’ Ymia Watson, was being treated for head trauma.

Investigators determined that the injuries were caused by the girl's father, Dustin Watson, police said.

The girl later died from her injuries, and Watson was charged with first-degree murder. He's being held at the White County jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
