Beatrice “Bea” Hays

Where I live: I have lived in my home in Sherwood for more than 40 years. I have two rescued dogs who are both 6 ½ years old: Maggie, who is a shepherd mix, and Cash, who is a lab/retriever mix.

Occupation: Bank compliance officer

My favorite space is: My easy chair and ottoman in my living room.

Why? I wandered into a local flea market several years ago and found two club chairs and a matching ottoman. I returned the next day, found that the chairs had been reduced in price and bought them. I placed them in my living room and between the chairs, I have placed a painted side table - another flea market find. I use the chair with the ottoman. It is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in and the best flea market find I’ve ever found.

While sitting in the chair, I visit with friends, read my books, drink coffee, watch television and sometimes take a nap. From my chair, I can see out my front window as well as out the patio doors to the deck.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Reupholster the chairs. In fact, I have an upholsterer lined up and fabric chosen. I would also like to add a real fire place (the DVD fire just isn’t like the real thing) and surround sound so I can enjoy my favorite music even more.
