Around 11,000 off and running in Little Rock Marathon

Around 11,000 runners hit the roads of Little Rock on Sunday morning in the 11th Little Rock Marathon under cold and rainy conditions.

Competitors will take part in the full marathon, half marathon and 10K events, with runners crossing the starting line this morning at 8 a.m. to a packed crowd of supporters along President Clinton Avenue in downtown Little Rock.

The course will take runners around the city, from downtown, across Interstate 630 overpasses into southern Little Rock, across into the Arkansas River into North Little Rock and into The Heights before bringing them to the River Market for their final few miles.

The weather will be a new challenge for runners of the event from the past few races. The 2012 and 2013 Little Rock marathons were run under cold but dry conditions.
