I-630 lane closures set for weekend

Road work over the weekend will close Interstate 630 lanes in Little Rock.

I-630 East will be reduced to one lane of traffic from 10 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday as crews shift traffic to new pavement between the Interstate 430 on-ramp and the Baptist Health Drive eastbound on-ramp, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

At 7 a.m. Saturday, Little Rock traffic signal maintenance workers will start repairs on street lights in the median parapet that separates the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-630, the city said. That work, which will affect the inside, westbound lane of I-630 between I-30 and Chester Street, is scheduled to last through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Next week, the installation of an overhead sign on the Baptist Health overpass will require overnight lane and ramp closures, the Highway Department said.

The work, set for 9 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. March 14, will narrow I-630 westbound traffic to one lane and close the westbound entrance ramp, highway officials said. Drivers leaving Baptist Health Medical Center who want to travel west on I-630 will be detoured to John Barrow Road to gain access to the highway.

Barrels and detour signs will guide drivers, the department said.

In addition, a sign replacement will cause overnight lane closures on I-430 in Little Rock on Tuesday, highway officials said.

Replacement of a sign on the Shackleford Road overpass will reduce I-430 North northbound traffic to one lane from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, the department said. The work had been set for this past Tuesday but was postponed because of weather.
