Special guests open doors on exhibit of work by Cloar

Members of the Arkansas Arts Center were invited to preview on Feb. 27 “The Crossroads of Memory: Carroll Cloar and the American South” exhibit, which was co-organized by the Arts Center and Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.

It features the work of Cloar, an Arkansas native.

The evening included a lecture by Stanton Thomas, organizing curator and catalog author.

Sounds of the South, including gospel music by the Hughes Sisters of Helena-West Helena filled the atrium, where a reception was held. Southern-style treats and drinks were served, including popcorn chicken and fried blackeyed peas from the Capital Hotel. Three special drinks - The Cotton Gin, The Earle and The Charlie Mae - were available.

The exhibit runs through June 1.
