Body is identified as missing woman

TEXARKANA - A body recovered from the Sulphur River has been identified as Elizabeth Ramsey, who was last seen in Texarkana, Texas, in December.

Fishermen called 911 after spotting the body around 12:20 p.m. March 5 about half a mile from the Sulphur River Landing, 9 miles south of Fouke.

The body was recovered by the Miller County sheriff’s office and sent to the state Crime Laboratory in LittleRock for autopsy. Dental records were used to identify it as Ramsey.

Chief Deputy Jeff Neal of the Bowie County sheriff’s office said there were no signs of foul play.

Ramsey was last seen Dec. 17 at her home on Moores Lane in Texarkana, Texas. Her vehicle was found a few days later at the Wright Patman Lake spillway, which feeds into the Sulphur River.

Numerous searches around the spillway and downriver failed to find Ramsey.
