Former elections supervisor fined for petit theft

POCATELLO, Idaho — A former Bannock County elections supervisor who pleaded guilty to petit theft after walking out of a Walmart with less than $20 in merchandise has been fined $500 and given a year of probation.

The Idaho State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1hgnR5a) that Magistrate Rick Carnaroli on Tuesday suspended $400 of the fine received by Victoria Hall.

Hall says she absentmindedly walked out of the store. A loss prevention employee called police when he saw Hall leave the store in Chubbuck on Nov. 22 without paying for several items.

Hall is an 11-year Bannock County employee. She has been removed as elections supervisor and now works in the Indigent Services office.

Bannock County attorney Ian Service says county officials plan to meet to consider Hall's future status.
