By ArkansasOnline

Work needed for the widening of Little Rock's Cantrell Road will require a stretch of North Hughes Street to be closed for about two months, city officials have said.

The installation of utilities will require the closure to through traffic on North Hughes between Cantrell Road and Kavanaugh Place starting at 7 a.m. Friday, the city said.

Barricades and detour signs will be put in place to alert drivers to the closure.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department has said it will widen Cantrell Road between Mississippi Avenue and Perryville Road to five lanes, including a center turn lane. The project is set to be bid out this summer.
