A multi-vehicle accident Friday has stalled a significant portion of Interstate 40 westbound in North Little Rock during the evening rush hour.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said the crash occurred at the Burns Park exit and involved a commercial carrier and a second vehicle.

"Westbound traffic is not moving" as of 5:35 p.m., Sadler said in an email. Shortly after 6 p.m., Sadler said traffic was starting to move through the area, but Arkansas Online's live traffic map still showed traffic at a standstill on I-40 westbound east of exit 152 to the I-40/I-30 interchange and along part of the I-30 river bridge.

Some reports on Twitter indicated at least one injury occurred as a result of the accident, but Sadler said he was not yet able to confirm that.

No further details were immediately available.
