Arkansas unemployment dips to 7.3%

Arkansas' unemployment declined one-tenth of a percentage point in January to 7.3 percent, down from 7.4 percent in December, according to U.S. Department of Labor statistics.

The state's civilian labor force rose in January by 700, with 2,400 more Arkansans employed and 1,700 fewer unemployed, the Department of Workforce Services said Monday.

Meanwhile, the U.S. unemployment rate also declined one-tenth of a percentage point, from 6.7 percent in December to 6.6 percent in January.
