Couple pledges $240,000 for UA engineering

FAYETTEVILLE — A Dallas couple has pledged $240,000 to the University of Arkansas' college of engineering to support an endowed fellowship in their name.

The school said Monday that the gift from Ansel and Virginia Condray will support a highly qualified faculty member within the chemical engineering department. Dean John English said the professorship will let the school attract and retain talented teachers and researchers.

Ansel Condray grew up in Little Rock and majored in chemical engineering at the university. He retired as chairman and production director of ExxonMobil International Ltd. In 2002. The gift includes money from ExxonMobil's matching gift fund.

The endowed professorship was created during the university's Campaign for the 21st Century.

Virginia Condray has an education degree from the University of Arkansas.
