VISTA PARK

Location: The park is at the western end of Lake Maumelle on Arkansas 10, approximately 17 miles west of I-430.

Length: The Ouachita Trail heads east (over the bridge) and west from the park. Hike west to the power lines for a two-mile trek along the Maumelle River, or continue 201 more miles to the trail’s end in Oklahoma.

Main attractions: You’ll likely have nature to yourself on this section featuring lowlands and moderately difficult rolling hills.

Hazards: Keep an eyeout for poison ivy and snakes in warm weather.

Sections are frequently overgrown on the seldom-used portions.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? The trail is not recommended for bikes or tykes, but kids will love the park, and Fido will find all sorts of dog stuff to sniff on the trail.
