Palmer tapped to fill Moody seat through ’14

Gov. Mike Beebe has appointed Chris Palmer as a circuit judge to temporarily fill the seat of Jay Moody, who was confirmed as a U.S. district judge in February.

Palmer of Little Rock will preside in the Third Division of the 6th Judicial District until Dec. 31, Beebe said in a statement. He's a litigation partner at the Little Rock law firm Wilson & Associates PLLC, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He replaces Moody, whom the U.S. Senate confirmed Feb. 25 as a district judge in the Eastern District of Arkansas to fill the post vacated by Judge Susan Webber Wright of Little Rock, who had assumed senior status.

Cathy Compton of Bigelow has filed to run for the post in the November election.
