Pedalpalooza swap meet set

New wheels for old. Old wheels for new. Thingamajigs to complete a bicycle’s whatchamacallit.

Pedalpalooza in the Little Rock River Market is a new chance to trade or sell bicycles and bicycle bits.

The bicycle swap meet will occupy the Little Rock River Market pavilions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Entry is free for the public and anyone with stuff to trade or sell can reserve a 10-by-10-foot booth for $10. (Fee doesn’t include a table.)

Besides a chance to buy, sell or trade stuff, the River Market’s Diana Long says, the swap meet is meant to help people who are new to the cycling scene in central Arkansas talk to bicycle advocates, members of bicycle clubs, teams and event organizers. “They have been invited,” she said Friday.

Also, Ron King’s Recycle Bikes for Kids will be on hand to accept any rusty, broken or too-much-trouble-to-repair bicycles that people don’t want to keep anymore - children’s or adult size.

Recycle Bikes for Kids rehabs such machines and gives them to children who otherwise wouldn’t have a bicycle.

A PDF form is available on the event’s Facebook page at “2014 Little Rock Pedal-Palooza Bicycle Swap Meet, March 22nd” and from the River Market’s “Registrations and forms” page, a link to which can be found at rivermarket.info. Long can be reached at dlong@littlerock.com and (501) 375-2552.
