All eastbound Interstate 630 lanes were closed in Little Rock for more than two hours Monday morning after a multi-vehicle accident triggered by slick conditions on an overpass between the Arkansas Children's Hospital and Woodrow Street exits.

By 8:10 a.m., the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said I-630 eastbound at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard had been reopened.

Police on the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly before 6 a.m., said about 20 vehicles were involved, and it appeared preliminarily that there were only minor injuries.

Mark Morrison, 39, said he was driving his Saturn sedan when he came up on the wreck. "Lots of cars piled up when I came down the hill. We just piled up. I think mine is totaled. ... It was scary."

An Arkansas Online reporter who walked the bridge said the surface was icy and there was no sign of salt or sand on it.

Meanwhile, officials warned some slick conditions would occur Monday morning after a light snowfall overnight.

The National Weather Service said parts of Arkansas could see some additional snow before it tapers off later Monday morning, though little to no additional accumulation is expected.

The agency said motorists should use caution, however, because some "isolated slick spots" could develop, "particularly under the more intense snow or sleet bands and on bridges and overpasses."

Any additional snowfall will end by mid-morning, the weather service said.

In Little Rock, where an overnight trace of snow tied the record set in 1951 for most snowfall on March 17, several accidents were reported Monday, including one on Interstate 440 near Springer Boulevard and the one on Interstate 630. There were also reports of at least one accident on U.S. 67/167 in North Little Rock.
