Gas station in Pulaski County robbed at gunpoint

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Pulaski County gas station at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office said it happened shortly before 4 a.m. at the Valero at 18823 MacArthur Drive.

One clerk told investigators that the man was in the store looking around and then went behind the counter when a second employee stepped out to smoke. The robber then "opened his jacket and revealed he was carrying a long silver handgun in a holster" before emptying a pair of registers, the report said.

The man then walked out the front door. The clerk inside followed to alert the employee who was smoking, police said in the report, noting that two customers overheard and attempted to "chase after the subject but were unable to catch him."

Police set up a perimeter and tried to track the man with a police dog, but they made no arrest.

Deputies later watched surveillance showing the robbery, although it was not immediately available for release. The robber is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man who wore a purple toboggan cap, a black jacket, black gloves, dark pants and black shoes.
