Police: Grocery store meat thief turns violent, strips off clothes

A woman attempted to steal nearly $100 worth of meat from a Little Rock grocery store before turning "violent," stripping off her clothes and escaping from employees who tried to detain her, police said.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Food Giant at 7507 Cantrell Road.

Little Rock police say the store manager and security guard reported the woman attempted to take eight packages of meat worth $96 by stuffing them in her purse.

When the employees approached the woman she "became violent and stripped off her clothes as they tried to detain her," according to a police report.

"The suspect left in an unknown direction on foot in her underwear," the report added.

Police searched the area but didn't make an arrest.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the woman got away with the meat.

The suspect is described as a white woman who stands about 5-foot-6 and weighs 170 pounds. She was wearing a black-and-blonde wig, a white Pulaski Tech hooded sweatshirt and bluejeans, police said.
