Police seek couple who posed as Adult Protective Services workers

Authorities are looking for a man and woman who impersonated Adult Protective Services workers in an apparent attempt to gain access into an elderly woman's home.

The Department of Human Services said the couple knocked on a Waldron resident's home, said they were with the agency and asked to be let in.

"When the woman asked for identification, the couple told her they left it in the car and were not required to present identification," the agency said in a statement, noting that its workers are required to show identification.

The couple threatened to call police if the woman wouldn't let them in, but they ultimately left when she continued to refuse, the statement said. It wasn't clear why the couple was trying to get in the home.

The impersonators are described as a man in his 40s with tattoos on his fingers and dark hair with gray on the sides and a woman with shoulder-length dark hair. They arrived and left in a light blue vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Scott County sheriff's office at (479) 637-4155.
