Man struck, killed by train near Clarksville

— Johnson County authorities say the body of a man who was struck and killed by a train near Clarksville has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in an effort to identify him.

The county sheriff's office says in a news release that the man was on a trestle over the Arkansas River backwater when he was hit by the train Friday afternoon.

The man was thrown about 30 feet into the water. His body was found in about 13 feet of water by the sheriff's office dive team.

The sheriff's office says the man is believed to be between 45- and 55-years-old.
