At the 20th Century Club’s Hope Ball on March 9, 24 high school juniors were honored for their service commitment to the club, which operates the 20th Century Club’s Lodge, a 21-room facility for cancer patients from out of town (some from out of state) who can’t otherwise afford a place to stay while receiving treatment at Little Rock hospitals.
Angels’ minimum service commitment is 25 hours, but Ashlyn Quickel and Emily Dickson received Service Above Self Awards recognizing total time commitments in excess of 100 hours.
Volunteer efforts included serving meals at the lodge and coordinating events there, and volunteering and taking instruction at local hospitals and health centers.
In return they were presented at the ball by their fathers.
