— The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has awarded $8,050 in grants for events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

The commission awarded $2,000 grants to the Old State House Museum in Little Rock for a Civil War play; the Ouachita County Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission for uniforms for a re-enactment group; and the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation in DeValls Bluff for the Fort Lincoln Freedom Festival.

A $1,500 grant goes to the Ouachita County committee for the Occupation of Camden and Battle of Poison Spring commemoration. And a $550 grant to the Saline County Library will be used for a seminar on the Camden Expedition and the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry.

Grants of up to $2,000 each are awarded four times each year as funding is available.
