RICHMOND, Va. — Dave Brockie, frontman for the heavy metal band GWAR, has been found dead in his Richmond, Va., home at age 50.

Richmond police spokesman Dionne Waugh said officers were called to home shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday for a report of a dead person. When officers arrived, Brockie, who went by the stage name Oderus Urungus, was found dead inside the home.

Detectives don't suspect foul play at this time, and Waugh said the medical examiner's office will determine cause of death.

The Grammy-nominated band founded in 1984 is known for its comically grotesque costumes, stage antics and vulgar lyrics.

GWAR released its latest album in 2013, and recently toured Australia and Japan.

In 2011, lead guitarist 34-year-old Cory Smoot was found dead on the band's tour bus.
