LITTLE ROCK — Members of the Arkansas and Oklahoma congressional delegations have announced support for the so-called Three Rivers Study of the area at the confluence of the Arkansas, Mississippi, and White rivers.

The area is the starting point of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, which runs through both states.

The study would investigate ongoing threats to navigation and bottomland hardwoods at the confluence of the rivers in southeast Arkansas.

Arkansas Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman and Reps. Rick Crawford, Tim Griffin, Steve Womack and Tom Cotton joined Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and Reps. Jim Bridenstine, Markwayne Mullin, Frank Lucas, Tome Cole and James Lankford in a letter to the assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works in support of the study.

Pryor is a Democrat, the others are Republicans.
