New general manager named for 'Texarkana Gazette'

TEXARKANA, Texas — Kirk Blair, a veteran newspaper executive whose career with the Texarkana Gazette spans more than 30 years, has been named general manager of the paper.

Blair will assume his new duties April 1, replacing Buddy King, who is retiring.

The Gazette reported that Blair has served as the paper's marketing director since 1992. The Texarkana native has managed staffs responsible for retail advertising, classified advertising, ad production, circulation and distribution.

His career at the Gazette began in the 1970s when he accepted a part-time position. He was previously a high school biology teacher and coach.

Blair is a past president of the Texarkana Oaklawn Rotary Club and of the Newspaper Circulators Association of Arkansas. He also serves on the Texarkana Education Foundation board of directors.
