Robber hits bank in school colors

A man wearing a bright red hoodie emblazoned with “Dollarway Cardinals” - a high school and the name of its mascot - and carrying a revolver robbed a bank Monday afternoon near War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock police said.

The man passed a note to the teller and displayed the revolver in his waistband about 3:45 p.m. at the Iberia Bank branch at 4900 W. Markham St., which is at the intersection of South Monroe Street and across Markham Street from the stadium, according to a news release from Lt. Sidney Allen, the Police Department spokesman.

The suspect was described as a black man between 19 and 21 years old with medium skin tone, green braces and tattoos on top of both of his hands. He stood about 5-foot-8, but witnesses were unable to say how much he weighed. They also couldn’t say how he left the bank or in which direction.

Police said they consider the suspect “armed and dangerous” and ask anyone coming in contact with him to call robbery detectives at (501) 371-6885 or (501) 371-4660.

NLR man arrested

in stolen pickup

A 32-year-old North Little Rock man was arrested early Monday in a stolen pickup that police said was suspected to have been involved in a string of vehicle break-ins in the Lakewood area of North Little Rock.

Beau Matthew Brockington of 5 Perin Road was charged with one count of theft by receiving.

Officers said they observed a white Ford F150 with camouflage trim on the bottom of the truck stopped about 12:40 a.m. at a gasoline pump at the E-Z Mart at 6101 Remount Road.

Noting that they had received information that a truck matching that description had been involved in the Lakewood vehicle break-ins, the officers checked its license plate. The information returned on the license plate showed that the truck was stolen in Benton, police said.

The truck then left north on Remount and had turned into 5 Perin Road by the time police said they caught up to it and arrested the driver.

Brockington was not listed on the Pulaski County jail’s online inmate roster Monday evening.
