Little Rock Farmers Market to open May 3

— The farmers market in Little Rock's River Market District will officially open for its 40th season on May 3, officials announced Tuesday.

It will be open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. every Saturday until Oct. 25.

On Tuesdays, the farmers market will also be debuting the “Night Market,” a later time slot from its previous 7 a.m.-noon hours.

"Night Market" lasts between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesdays from May 27 to August 26.

The new “Night Market” will feature street performers and entertainment while patrons shop for fruits and vegetables.

While "Night Market" doesn't officially begin until 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, vendors will be ready to sell at noon for those wanting to come shop earlier in the day, officials said.

In addition to the market being open later on Tuesdays, restaurants in the River Market Hall will open their doors later for dinner for anyone who wants to eat before or after doing their farmers market shopping.

On opening day, officials will throw a 40th birthday party featuring cake, balloon animals and more.

Other farmers markets in the area include the Argenta Farmers Market, the Hillcrest Farmers Market and the Bernice Garden Farmers Market.

The Argenta Farmers Market runs from 7 a.m.-noon Saturdays and will continue through Dec. 13; the Hillcrest Farmers Market is open year-round from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays; and the Bernice Garden market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays from April 12 and until mid-November.
