Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mike Ross is criticizing Republican rival Asa Hutchinson for his role prosecuting the impeachment case against former President Clinton, saying it showed how partisan the former congressman is.
Ross told The Associated Press it's up to voters to decide whether impeachment will be an issue in the race for Arkansas' top office this year. He cited it as the difference between his service in Washington and Hutchinson's. Both are former congressmen.
Hutchinson was one of the House managers who argued before the Senate for Clinton's removal over lies he told about his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinksy. The Senate voted to acquit the 42nd president.
Hutchinson dismissed Ross' comments as "snarky," saying his rival was focusing on "ancient history" and he believed voters were more interested in the candidates' future plans than the impeachment trial.
