A 19-year-old White Hall man has been arrested in the first of four bank robberies in Little Rock this week, marking the fourth suspect to be charged in a string of holdups police believe to be unrelated.
Pulaski County jail records show Devonta K. Piggee was booked in about 2:15 a.m. on charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property.
Piggee made an initial appearance in Little Rock District Court Thursday, during which an innocent plea was entered, his bail was set at $250,000 and he was ordered to wear an ankle monitor if he's released.
Piggee is suspected of robbing the Iberia Bank at 4900 W. Markham St. about 3:45 p.m. Monday.
According to a police report, the robber lifted up his shirt and displayed a black revolver after passing a teller a note demanding cash "and no dye packs."
After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber ran north from the business. No one was injured.
Police released a surveillance photo from the bank showing the purported robber wearing a red Dollarway Cardinals shirt. Prosecutors said during the video hearing Thursday morning that Piggee was developed as a suspect after "numerous calls" to investigators identified him from the photo.
The holdup was the start of a flurry of bank-robbing activity in Little Rock, but police say none of the cases appear to be related.
On Tuesday, two men held up the U.S. Bank branch at 6320 W. Markham St., which sits about a mile west of the Iberia Bank that was robbed. Derrick Galvin, 20, and Myron Thompson, 22, were arrested in that case shortly after the holdup.
Later that day, authorities responded to an unarmed robbery of the First Security Bank at 10 Bass Pro Drive. Jahmal Wallace, 37, was later charged in that case.
And on Wednesday afternoon, a robber held up the Metropolitan National Bank at 2804 Kavanugh Blvd. by passing a note. No arrests have been made.
Galvin, Thompson and Wallace all remained in jail Thursday morning.
