Rain postpones UALR, ASU, UCA

Inclement weather created all types of problems for the state’s college baseball teams Friday.

UALR played through seven innings before lighting forced the game to be postponed Friday night in Monroe, La.

UALR and Louisiana-Monroe will pick up at 4:30 pm. today with one out in the top of the eighth inning and Louisiana-Monroe leading 6-4. Game 2 of the series will follow.

The Trojans used a four-run fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4 Friday. Trailing 4-0 entering the fourth, Bryson Thionnet led off with a home run. Ben Crumpton singled and scored on a wild pitch, and Tanner Rockwell had an RBI double and later scored on Justin Steelmon’s single.

The Warhawks regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Josh Faciane hit a two-run single.

Arkansas State and the University of Central Arkansas also ran into weather issues.

Arkansas State’s series opener against Texas State was postponed today, with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro.

Central Arkansas’ game against Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas, also was postponed. The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today.
