Conway police locate parents of child found wandering streets

Conway Police Department officials used social media to locate the parents of a toddler found wandering along Favre Lane and Greenwood Circle on Monday morning.

Department spokesman Latresha Woodruff said officials got a call Monday morning about the boy, who she estimated to be about 3 years old. Once located, she said, the boy wouldn't give officers any information.

"[Officers] started knocking on doors trying to find where he belonged," she said.

After officers sent a photo to Woodruff, she used Twitter to spread the word and try to identify the boy's parents.

Woodruff said it only took about 10 minutes for someone to call and identify the parents.

"We tweeted out his picture, [and] we were able to get in contact with his mother who then showed up at the scene," Woodruff said.

"By the time I made it [to the scene] his mother had already picked him up."

Woodruff said the child was staying at a babysitter's house and was trying to make his way home.

"He was perfectly fine. He wasn't out there for long."
