Homeland Security secretary to tour storm damage

LITTLE ROCK — The secretary of Homeland Security is set to tour damage in central Arkansas caused by severe storms earlier this week.

The department announced Thursday that Secretary Jeh Johnson is scheduled to visit Mayflower and Vilonia on Sunday along with Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe and other state and local officials.

Johnson and the others will view and tour tornado damage and learn about recovery efforts.

Authorities say 15 people died when a tornado started near Ferndale and continued for about 41 miles to El Paso on Sunday. The National Weather Service has said the twister was a "high-end" EF4, with winds near the top of the 166-200 mph range.
