Kentucky native writes song for Arkansas tornado victims

Jimmy Rose, like many throughout the country, is doing what he can to show his support for the victims of Sunday evening's tornado, which killed 15 people in central Arkansas and uprooted the lives of thousands more.

He wrote a song specifically for the victims that he titled "Sweet Arkansas.”

Rose, a Kentucky native, said he wrote the song in about 20 minutes.

“I saw the storm in Oklahoma [last year], and this song had been on my mind, but I hadn’t done anything with it,” he said.

“Then these storms came through and I told my girlfriend, 'Maybe this is the time to do this.'”

Rose won third place on Season 8 of America’s Got Talent.

“This song was one that just came to me. Sometimes songs come really fast and sometimes you get hung up on them,” he said.

He said he wrote the song to show Arkansans that even though he’s in Kentucky, he stands behind the state.

“I just wanted to do that and share with those people [so they know] we’re all behind you,” he said. “We need to stand behind each other. Hopefully everybody enjoys it.”
