Where I live: I have lived for eight years in the Sandpiper West neighborhood of west Little Rock with my husband, Ron, and our rescue dog Lola, a 5-year-old golden retriever.
Occupation: I am the executive director of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Pulaski County.
My favorite space is: Our new deck off our living room.
Why? Our deck is where we come to relax and unplug. We had it custom built last spring. Half of the deck is covered, and we have a ceiling fan and table and chairs under the covered portion. The uncovered half is home to my herb garden and a custom-built gardening table/bench. I love to have potted plants and flowers on and around the deck and hanging baskets of blooming plants.
Our favorite thing to do is sit on the deck at the end of the day with a glass of wine and talk about the day’s events.
This is also where we come with a cup of coffee and the morning paper. We love to gather out here with friends and family. Lola loves to be with us and lie in the sun. If the weather is cooperating, this is our favorite place to eat. Ron is from Los Angeles and I’m from south Florida so we both love being outdoors.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add more landscaping and more flowers to our backyard.
