Gov. Mike Beebe is expected to join officials from Verizon on Monday to announce "significant" new job openings in Arkansas, the company said in a statement.

Jonathon Blitz, director of business sales for Verizon, and other Verizon employees will join Beebe at the state Capitol for a 10 a.m. announcement of "significant job growth in Arkansas," according to a statement.

"These positions will appeal to a wide range of applicants from a variety of educational backgrounds, with the majority of positions existing in the sales and customer service areas," Verizon said in the statement.

An open house for job candidates will be held Friday at Verizon's regional headquarters in Little Rock.
