Man accused of pointing gun outside NLR apartment

A 68-year-old North Little Rock man is accused of pointing a gun at three people, including his ex-wife, outside his apartment Tuesday night.

North Little Rock police arrested Wes Davenport on three counts of aggravated assault, one count of public intoxication and one count of disorderly conduct.

According to a police report, the three victims said Davenport emerged from his apartment in the 300 block of West 13th Street, pointed what appeared to be a rifle at them and said "get outta here before I shoot and kill all y'all."

Investigators found Davenport in the yard. According to the report, he yelled that the gun "wasn't real" and then allowed officers inside, where they retrieved a loaded BB rifle air gun from a closet.

"Mr. Davenport stated that he was being harassed by crackheads outside his apartment ... so he put a towel over the rifle and went outside to scare them away," police wrote in the report.

Authorities say Davenport showed signs of intoxication.

Davenport remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.
