Vilonia Fire Department to receive FEMA grant

The Vilonia Fire Department will receive a grant for new equipment from the Department of Homeland Security, officials announced Wednesday.

The grant, totaling $37,073, is from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program to purchase 18 sets of turnout gear for Vilonia’s local firefighters, a news release from Rep. Tim Griffin's office states.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency provides fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel, the release states.
