LRAFB captain accused of possessing, distributing child porn

A United States Air Force captain stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base has been indicted on federal child pornography charges, U.S. Attorney Christopher Thyer said Thursday.

Shane Padilla, 30, was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury on one count each of possession and distribution of child pornography, Thyer said in a news release.

The indictment accuses Padilla of receiving more than 1,000 images and 100 videos containing child pornography through his Yahoo email account between February 2013 and March 27, 2013. Padilla is also accused of knowingly distributing child pornography on or about March 27, 2013, the release states.

Padilla was arrested April 4 and released on bond April 8 under the condition that he surrender his passport and pilot's license. Padilla also was required to be detained at home and restricted from Internet access and contact with minors, according to the release.

If convicted, both charges carry sentences of up to 20 years in prison and/or up to $250,000 in fines followed by five years of supervised release.
