Father-son fight results in shots, injuries

White County deputies are investigating after a fight between a Searcy father and son resulted in gunfire and injuries for both men.

Authorities received a call at 4:52 p.m. Thursday about "a shooting as a result of a domestic battery" at 109 Stoneybrook Lane near Beebe, White County sheriff's Chief Deputy Phillip Miller said in a statement.

There, deputies found David Thomas, 60, with injuries suffered during a fight with his son, Justin Thomas, 30, authorities said. The father had shot the son during the fight, and the son had fled, according to deputies.

Authorities found Justin Thomas and took him to White County Medical Center for treatment of an apparent gunshot wound, which authorities described as non-life-threatening. His father was also taken to the hospital for evaluation of his injuries, according to authorities.

Detectives are still investigating the fight and have arrested Justin Thomas on a domestic-battery charge, Miller said.
