LAMAR — Authorities in Johnson County say a man died after apparently slipping while cutting weeds near a pond in Lamar, hitting his head as he fell, then drowning.
The sheriff's office said 35-year-old Michael Mee was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.
Family members reported finding Mee in the pond. The relatives pulled him to the bank and performed CPR, but a coroner pronounced him dead.
The sheriff's office said it appeared that Mee hit his head on a stump at the water's edge before falling into the water.
