FORREST CITY — An inmate who escaped custody in Mississippi has been captured in eastern Arkansas.
Authorities said Christopher Wade was awaiting trial on drug-related charges in Leflore County, Miss., when he escaped Wednesday. Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said Wade was working as a trustee in the sheriff's office when he disappeared.
Arkansas State Police said Wade was captured 130 miles away Thursday night in St. Francis County. State Police Capt. Jackie Clark told The Times-Herald that Wade and his wife were spotted at a truck stop in Palestine. They were both taken into custody.
Banks said both Wade and his wife will face felony escape charges. They are being held in the St. Francis County jail and authorities did not know if they had attorneys.
