LITTLE ROCK — Republican Asa Hutchinson has raised more than $240,000 during the past month in his campaign for Arkansas governor, again surpassing the amount raised by his rival for the GOP nomination in next week's primary.

Hutchinson on Tuesday reported raising $240,375 since April 1 and has more than $903,000 in the bank in his bid for the state's top office. Tuesday is the deadline to file fundraising reports ahead of the May 20 primary.

Hutchinson's haul dwarfs the $62,060 that Republican primary rival Curtis Coleman reported raising during the same period. Coleman has $5,883 in the bank.

Hutchinson, a former congressman, reported spending more than $579,000 during the period.

Reports were not immediately available for former U.S. Rep. Mike Ross and substitute teacher Lynette Bryant, who are seeking the Democratic nomination.
