Food-aid distribution set in Saline County

The Central Arkansas Development Council is distributing U.S. Department of Agriculture food commodities next week in Saline County, the nonprofit community action agency said.

The food will be handed out next Tuesday and May 21 at the Benton and Bryant senior activity centers, the nonprofit group said. The food distribution in Bryant will take place from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and noon-3 p.m. at the CADC Bryant Senior Activity Center, 6401 Boone Road No. 3. The items available canned apricots and pears; frozen blueberries; canned cream-style corn, whole-kernel corn, mixed vegetables and sliced white potatoes; and frozen chicken leg quarters and frozen cooked turkey breast, the group said.

To be eligible, customers must present identification and must meet income guidelines. Eligibility is based on 130 percent of the federal poverty line, or a single person earning $14,937 per year, with $5,226 added for each additional family member.
