Police: New Mexico man kidnapped wife from Arkansas

DEMING, N.M. — Authorities say a New Mexico man kidnapped his estranged wife from Arkansas, took her to New Mexico, and then he and his father raped her.

The Deming Headlight reports that Jessie Hopper Jr. and Jessie Hopper Sr. were arrested Saturday after a dispatcher in Arkansas contacted New Mexico State Police about the missing woman's whereabouts. Authorities say AT&T traced her cellphone to the younger Hopper's home in Deming.

Police say officers found the woman inside a bus on the property. She told authorities the men abducted her after contacting her Thursday and took her to New Mexico.

Both men face a number of charges including kidnapping, conspiracy, and aggravated criminal sexual penetration.

It was not known whether they had attorneys.
